I have the honor of serving on the Board for Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Today, we learned about the incredible and thoughtful work the Zoo team is pursuing when it comes to the fascinating behavior of raccoons.
Leading adaptive change that matters requires leaders to hold a BIG and protected space for future vision and making that vision a reality.
In Leadership on the Line, Heifetz and Linsky (2002) wrote, “The single biggest failure of leadership is to treat adaptive challenges like technical problems” (p. 14).
Once great leaders see adaptive change opportunities that matter, they can’t ever not see the needed change again. And, they pursue the need for change with passion, vision, and care for those they are have the honor to serve.
